Arthur VOIRIN
Arthur Voirin
Captain and company manager

Captain First Class of the Merchant Navy and Chief Engineer Unlimited. He sailed for several years as an officer on various merchant ships around the world, then as first mate and captain on polar ships. He has excellent experience of navigation in polar environments, both in the Arctic and Antarctic. He also has a passion for the mountains and has always been a ski tourer.
He has taken part in several expeditions in partnership with high mountain guides in Norway, the Antarctic Peninsula and South Georgia. He is fully aware of the specificities, constraints and imperatives of both mountain activities and polar navigation.

Dimitri has been part of the team since 2012. He specialises in zodiacs, whatever the weather, and has many other strings to his bow...

A passionate sailor, Julien pampers his engines and loves to show our passengers around and explain how our machines work.

Sabine Francese
Head cook
A passionate cook who trained at the Paul Bocuse Institute in Lyon and then worked as a home chef, she will be joining Polaris in 2019. Her Italian origins and generosity are evident in her cooking, as is her passion for world cuisine inspired by her experiences abroad.

both specialising in the polar regions. They have been leading our Spitsbergen cruises every summer since 2012, to the delight of our passengers, with whom they share their passion for nature.

Gilles Marquis
Head cook

A graduate of the Ecole des Gobelins, Gilles Marquis worked for 20 years in the kitchens of the greatest chefs, but first as a photographer. He was lucky enough to taste their signature dishes and to be able to travel the world. Some have become friends and sources of inspiration, like Laurent Peugeot and Christophe Paucod in Tokyo. At the age of 45, he enrolled at the Ecole Hôtelière d'Avignon to take a CAP in cookery. He then opened his own restaurant in Evian, which he ran until 2022 before joining our crew. He's sure to delight you with his original dishes!
