Croisière Randonnée et découverte des îles Lofoten
This cruise is an exploration of the fjords of the Lofoten archipelago, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, the historic land of the Vikings, whose islands are among the most beautiful in the world.
We're offering you a peaceful week's sailing in the fjords, with plenty of stops to discover the typical fishing villages and beautiful landscapes for which this coastline is famous, where the mountains seem to rise out of the sea.
As summer draws to a close, tourists and mosquitoes have deserted the area and the autumn colours are in evidence, as are the northern lights at night. At each stopover, you'll be offered a hike supervised by a mountain leader. The hikes are optional, and those who prefer to stroll through the villages or along the seafront will be offered alternative free excursions, or zodiac rides, depending on the weather. As summer draws to a close, the colours of autumn are in evidence, as are the northern lights at night. There's also plenty of fish to be caught, and for those who like to pick their own mushrooms, sheep's feet and porcini mushrooms, as well as blueberries, lingonberries and cloudberries, all of which grow in abundance.
Course of the trip
Day 1 : Arrival at Svolvaer airport and boarding. Evening at leisure and visit to the town. Overnight in port.
Day 2 : Svolvaer-Ulvagen : Set sail in the morning for Raftsundet. Stopover on the island of Store Molla, possible hike to cross the island from south to north, and visit to the village of Ulvagen and its surroundings. Pick blueberries, mushrooms and bilberries if the season is favourable.
Day 3 : Island of Skrova : The island of Skrova is a beautiful fishing village and the climb to its summit offers one of the most impressive panoramas in the archipelago, with many fish eagles. For those who prefer to stay at the bottom, the coastal path is also magnificent and allows you to visit the white sandy beaches on the northern shores of the island.
Day 4 : Trollfjord-Henningsvaer. Set sail in the morning from Skrova and head for Trollfjord, a very deep and narrow fjord, the true emblem of Lofoten. We'll take time to contemplate these impressive walls and disembark at the bottom of the fjord for a walk along a path that will allow us to discover the valley as far as a hut serving as a refuge on the edge of a lake (Trollfjordhytta). At the end of the day, we'll set sail for Henningsvaer, a small fishing island nicknamed the Venice of the Arctic. Visit the village and spend the night on the quayside.
Day 5 : Queen. Sail south along the coast, arriving in the early afternoon at Reine, wonderfully situated in a mountainous setting. We'll explore the many fjords of Reine's inner bay, with their numerous waterfalls and breathtaking panoramas. Afternoon walking tour at the foot of the spectacular cliffs of the cirques and then into the Bunesfjord to the pass overlooking the Atlantic. A paved road at the pass links the houses to the fishing grounds of days gone by. Stroll along the beach, and collect shells if the tide is right !
Day 6 : Vaeroy. Set sail in the morning for the island of Vaeroy. This isolated island at the southernmost tip of the archipelago is an island of outstanding beauty, a sanctuary for thousands of seabirds. We'll disembark for a walk along the beach and then take a short path to discover the coast off the coast and its impressive cliffs. Possibility of climbing the Mahornet, with a 360° view! In the late afternoon, sail to the village of Nusfjord.
Day 7: Nusfjord. Visit the historic village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and walk along the coastal path to Nesland. Then excursion to the lakes overlooking the village. Fishing for amateurs, mushroom picking, and cranberry and bilberry picking for evening desserts. At the end of the day, we set sail for Svolvaer, the capital of Lofoten, where we will arrive in the evening.
Day 8 : Disembarkation and return flight.
